There have been skills that I discovered I was very good at. The problem has been that those abilities bored me, skills that thankfully made me a living but never brought real joy. If I could make my surroundings better, the tasks of my co-workers easier, and lighten the drudgery of the day, I found satisfaction in those small wins. I have mixed feelings about G. W. Bush, and I appreciate the fact that he is a decent sort of fella. What I am really impressed by is his efforts at painting. I remember seeing him showing off his paintings of dogs that even to me looked like refrigerator door art, art that only Barbara could appreciate. George did not care about the critics and pressed on. The world will give a fella all kinds of jobs, calls to duty, and responsibilities never asked for. You accomplish these things the best you can with the information available to you and the abilities you possess. In the end, you will be judged by whether your intentions were selfless and for a greater good, rather than by the results. After all, the results are always out of your hands. The latest efforts of George Bush are really something to see. I am by no means an art expert, but I feel that there is real beauty and skill in what he is painting now.
